Wet/cambelt

Featured Replies

Hi,

I wonder if anybody could give me a rough guide on how much it costs to have a new wet/cambelt fitted on my 1.0 eco fiesta.

many thanks

Briefly, anywhere from approx £900 at an independent specialist up to £1800-2000 at Ford main dealers.

It takes 1-2 days, the belt is inside the engine and was never designed to need replacing, so there is a lot of disassembly required, some garages find it easier to drop the engine.

Do you happen to know if you get any signs that it may be on way out? My 2015 fiesta has done 102000 miles but runs perfect

By the time it shows any signs it's usually too late and the engine is toast.

I was quoted approx. £1,500 by my local Lockers Ford. I'm expecting a grand or more from my local mechanic. He mentioned, the last one he did, the engine came out. It has to be done every 10 years or 100-150k miles. However it's always best to do it early.

When I get it done, I'll suggest to do timing belt, oil pump belt, Aux belt, possibly change the oil pump and coolant pump.

My wifes suddenly announced its demise by developing a top end rattle at approximately 65000 miles, £6K for a new engine!😮

These are often suggested when a 1.0 EcoBoost has ecoboomed.
