Help : Xenon headlight adjustment for Ford Focus MK2.5

Featured Replies

Hello,

The xenon headlights on my Ford Focus Mk2.5 have become misaligned on their own; they are too low, making night driving difficult.

The leveling sensor located on the front control arm is working correctly, as the headlights move up and down when turned on.

However, when I try to calibrate the system via FordCan using the HCM service procedure, an error B2618 appears, and the calibration fails.

I also tried adjusting the knobs on the headlights by turning them in and out, but this had no effect.

Any solutions ?

THX !

I don’t think that the headlamps cycling at switch on proves the levelling sensor is working correctly, more of a self test function for the headlamp motors etc

System can’t be fully tested unless you physically move the levelling sensor.

if both lamps have started giving the problem at the same time I’d still consider the levelling sensor needing looking at

I unscrewed the sensor on the suspension arm, and the xenon headlights move correctly depending on whether I raise or lower the sensor

I have seen people jack the car up to get the calibration to work with full suspension travel.  Not convinced it wasn't just coincidence though.

Have you checked the rear leveling sensor aswell? If it's broken or if it's knocked out of position?

I suspect the OP will find the bracket for the rear sensor has broken off. They are known for rusting away.
