Ford Fiesta 125ps Eco drive Titanium, flat battery

Featured Replies

I have the Ford Fiesta detailed above, which belonged to my late wife, and I am looking to sell it. Unfortunately  it has been left standing and the battery has gone flat, so the doors won't unlock. I have been told that I can unlock the doors by applying a 12 V supply to battery lead to the starter solenoid whilst operating the keyfob, but despite jacking the car up I can't see this terminal as photos I've seen online look different from my car. The Haynes manual is useless on this topic.

Can anyone help.

Trevor

There is an emergency key blade hidden in the fob for this situation.

The starter motor on the 1.0 EcoBoost is behind the engine so very awkward to access.  If you've got long arms, it might be easier to reach the alternator terminal instead.

Open the door with the key, open the bonnet, charge/replace the battery

Thanks for your replies, but unfortunately the manual key will not work if the battery is completely flat. Although the key will turn this merely powers up the deadlock solenoids, which is what actually unlocks the door and is the click you hear when you open the door, either remotely or with the manual key. If the battery is totally dead this can't happen.

The key works, that's what it's designed to do, you aren't turning it enough, or the right way.

Hi Dave, well you were right. I discovered that if I turn the key to the left instead of the right the door will open. Duh!!!!!!!!

I've never found this advice on the internet. Everything I've read says you need to get a 12 V supply into the car somehow.

Thanks,

Trevor
