Ford Focus ST Line 2018
SYNC 3 Vn 0.3 Build 20204

Hello,

CarPlay will just not work. Tried Master Reset, re-boot, and different iPhones and cables. Siri does work, so something getting through.

When I bought the car in 2024, CarPlay was showing. After deleting previous users, it disappeared, never to return.

While researching the issue, I came across an article on upgrading from SYNC 2, which said an upgrade to the USB hub was required. Confused, as I understand that SYNC 2 onwards is compatible with CarPlay.

Notwithstanding, could someone confirm that the attached picture of my hub is or is not compatible with CarPlay?

Any help or insight greatly appreciated.

Don

An SD card indicates Sync 2, no Carplay

But a 2018 indicates Sync 3, so very confusing.

Unless your car had been sat around for ages and was very old when it was registered, it should be Sync 3

If your screen is split into 4 sections then you are Sync 2

Early days 😂

Hi Dave, sorry for the wait, the car is not with me right now. Thanks for the positive confirmation on the hub, I've attached a pic of the sync module.

The hub seems to have a spring latch on all four sides, do I need to remove the armrest to extract? I've also seen some posts where a wiring loom adapter cable is required, is this correct?

I really appreciate your help :)

Just spotted an error in the post header. The software version is 3.0 (not 0.3)

Don :(

That's definitely Sync 3

Weird

Sync 3 USB hub should be plug and play, original one could've packed up and they've fitted the wrong one

So the Six Million Dollar question ...... Whats on the SD card ?
