Aircon 2024 ST-Line

Featured Replies

car is 6 months old, less than 5k miles and the aircon is not blowing cold air.  ive had car years old and never needed the aircon topped up or looked at.  does this sound right?

No. Something is faulty or damaged.

Mines nearly 5 years old and still blows cold despite never being regassed.

Alex mate I was hoping that wasn't the case.  the air is only the same temp as outside air, even driving the car on the motorway doesn't cool it.  the amber spanner came on 2/3 weeks ago for 20 minutes but went away the next time I started the car.

My money would be on low battery rather than low gas...

On a 6 month old car, shouldn't it be going back to the dealer to sort?

it's booked in on Thursday 8am, hopefully nothing serious.

Mine was regassed when I had the 4 years service, they said it needed regassing even though it was still working.

No it must be leaking, no way would it need regassing yet.

I had a Fiesta from new and that was delivered without working AC, they found one of the o-rings was damaged so the factory gas had leaked during shipping.

All sorted under warranty, but they should leak test before trying to regas anyway.

I've said before, but mum's 22 year old Toyota Yaris A/C is ice cold. Hasn't been touched since Toyota built it, but it is Japanese, not a Ford 😂

I had seen some water dripping from under the car would that be it?

No, the gas evaporates.

The dripping under the car is more likely the condenser drain, though that usually only drips when the A/C is working, lol.

The other possibility is that the air guides directing it over the condensor are not working, so the A/C system has gas but it can't divert the air across the condenser.

So car was booked in yesterday with Ford, I'm absolutely clueless, however they needed to change the battery as there was an issue with it, this has sorted out the aircon, do idea how this works, but it's working now.

If all they did was replace the battery, be prepared for the 'fault' to return...

Unless the battery is given a regular "top up" charge - any charger recommendations?😀

There's one that gets a mention from time to time called ...... can't quite remember it now, something like 'flag pole' or was it 'tent pole' ? I'm sure @StephenFord would probably remember it 😉
