ST150 Gearbox casing

Featured Replies

I have a 2007 Fiesta ST150 2.0 duratec with a broken diff.  Hole in casing above the right hand side driveshaft.  I haven't taken the gearbox out yet to see the full extent of the damage but it's fairly safe to assume a replacement casing is required.  My question is what vehicles will have a compatible casing.  I'm in NZ so plenty of second hand focus and mk 7 fiesta boxes around but I'm wondering which ones will bolt up to the duratec? Do I need a mk2 2.0 focus box?

Yes, I'd say  MK2 with a Duratec engine so 1.8 or 2.0 5 speed, if those transmissions are IB5 as I know ST150 definitely used IB5

Pretty sure the Mk2 focus uses the IB5 for petrol versions.  Is there a common weakness that results in diff parts exiting the case or was I just unlucky?  If there is a known weakness is there a fix for it?

It might just be because of the inverted affect of gravity in NZ 🤣

Here is a like to the Fords parts catalogue, it might help you check gearboxes from other models and see if they uses the same finis code.

I'm fairly sure the 2.0 petrol in Mk2 used MTX75.

1.8 petrol used IB5 though.

Spider gears existed out the casing and also into the bell housing:

Just unlucky I reckon, I've not seen that before.

You'll have to transfer all the internals over though, ST150 had unique ratios I believe

Finding a case is proving to be a challenge.  Plenty of IB5 cases for 1.6 fiesta's but no IB5+ cases.  There don't seem to be any 1.8 duratec Focus's here either.  Looks like Ford NZ only imported the 2.0l with the mtx transmission.

Doesn't anyone know of anywhere selling them in the uk?  The gearcase is undamaged but ideally the bellhousing needs replacing.

Yes.  But you'd best sit down before seeing the price...

GENUINE FORD 1361508 FIESTA 2.0 ST150 GEARBOX TRANSAXLE CASE 2001-2010 – ML Performance

There are a few complete used ST150 gearboxes on ebay UK for 200GBP or less.  The shipping to NZ might make them unviable though.

Thanks,  yes ML Performance are hopeful.  Bearingkits.co.uk are a bit more reasonable but still pretty expensive by the time it's freighted.  I can't see any on ebay UK but maybe it filters the listings on IP.  If I could find a used bellhousing and have it couriered to a freight forwarder who'd send it on to NZ then that would be ideal.

I used to break cars and would never split a gearbox casing to sell separately.  Too much hassle and there won't be buyers for many of the internals.  Would always sell the box complete.  So I don't think you'll find just the casing on it's own.

Most of the ebay listings say collection only.  There are a few offering UK postage, but even that is around 90GBP, so I dread to think how much it is to NZ.  Was only 30GBP to ship a gearbox around the UK 10 years ago.

Thanks for links.  I can find the listings ok but as you say they're all for collection so it doesn't really help me.  Ideally I'd need a wrecker/recycler who's prepared to strip out a used gearbox and package the casings to freight to a forwarder.

They're not all for collection.  The top 4 offer postage (in the UK at least).  Only the bottom 2 say collection only.

The cars being broken for parts offer postage as well, but you'd have to contact them specifically to ask about each part.

I still don't think you'll find anyone willing to split a gearbox at a breaker, not worth their time, but several of those listings are for breakers yards.  You would have to contact each one individually to ask.
