Tyre Monitor

Featured Replies

Hi.  All four tyre sensors have gone on my car and I was going to get them replaced until I found out how much they were - £60 per sensor.  As they do not serve an essential service in my opinion I would like to know if the tyre sensor alarm/light can be disabled?

Indeed, who'd want to know that they're driving at 70Mph with a potentially deflating tire 🤣

Odd too that all 4 sensors have gone, most would replace as & when each sensor failed...

Oh, and since 2012, TPMS have been mandatory...

Same as the people who didn't have tyre sensors to start with I would imagine🤪

Back to the question in hand - I only need to know if they can be disabled?

They are mandatory. It would be illegal to disable them...

You could try a search on Ebay to get them cheaper, £60/each sounds a tad expensive..

Just as an example...

I'm not sure where you are buying them but the genuine item can be bought for £20.29 each inc.VAT

https://www.autodoc.co.uk/schrader/9491974?

A working TPMS system on a 2015 car is an MOT check.

If the system is faulty then it will fail the MOT

Set of 4 for just over £20 on eBay.
