as you look up underneath the front of the car it’s there.

I was trying to diagnose another issue.

i don’t know what this plug/cable is called?

can anyone help please?

That was the oil pressure switch.  But it's now broken and will need to be replaced.  Half of it is still stuck in the plug.

hello and thank you.

So the whole thing has to be rewired to the two existing wires branching off the main cable?

I’ve googled for parts but can’t find like for like.

how can oil leak from this socket?

it’s not dripping out onto the concrete but appears to be clinging. It’s not hot either.

No wiring needed.  The black plastic is two pieces although it appears as just one in those pictures.  Just unplug the broken piece, then unscrew the broken switch from the engine.

Oil acts directly on that switch so now it's broken can easily pass.

I'm not sure exactly which engine you have but this is one of the oil pressure switches for the Fiesta.

When I fit things like that i usually wrap the threads in plumbers PTFE Tape because I have some anyway.

Not important but if Oil does leak up the Threads later then this usually cures the problem.

The same part on my wife's MK7 1.4 Fiesta had to be recently replaced (it hadn't snapped but it was weeping and throwing up the oil pressure light, despite the system being at the correct oil level).

Ended up getting the garage to replace it because access was a nightmare (off axle stands). On the 1.4 at least, unless you can get the car a good 70cm or more off the ground, it's impossible to bend your arm and hand sufficiently to reach it.

This is now all fixed. This was an actually a geatbox/reverse sensor switch in the end.

Ah, sorry about that.  I should probably go to Specsavers. 🧐
