Disconnected hose in Fiesta 1.6 tdci mk5

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I’m a novice when it comes to cars but have been trying to do up a Fiesta 1.6l tdci mk5 (2007 plate). I just wondered if anyone knows what that broke hose pipe is? The pipe (highlighted in red) seems to have been connected to the other thing highlighted in red which is connected to (what I believe is) the air intake filter box. But yeah I’m really not sure what it is but want to know what I’m looking at before I fix it.

Any help/suggestions as to what it is would be greatly appreciated.

PS ignore the burnt out high speed fan relay as I have since replaced it.

The part on the air box goes around to the brake servo for vacuum assistance.  I can't find one for the 1.6 TDCI but this is one from a 1.4.  (Not compatible, just a reference picture)

The vacuum pipe you're holding isn't broken.  That will push back onto a new valve if you replace it for one with the nipple still intact.

If searching for parts you have a 2007 Fiesta Mk6.5 in the UK, otherwise known as a Mk6 facelift.

Thanks for this. Will look into getting one for the 1.6tdci. Do you reckon it’s worth having a look for another valve at a breakers (provided that the valve still has all nipples intact)? Or should I just buy a new one?

Thank you for this. It’s crazy to me that you know the mk of the car having only seen part of the engine compartment! I’ve been searching for issues with the mk5 for the longest time but didn’t realise my car was a slightly newer version so, once again, cheers.

I can see that you have a seriously overheated fan relay, that urgently needs replacing 👍

EDIT: just noticed in your first post that you mention the relay has been replaced

It's not possible to swap the valve alone.  The plastic pipe is heat sealed around the ends to ensure an air-tight fit.  So you need to replace the whole pipe.  I would prefer to fit a brand new pipe, as all the used ones will be over 15 years old now, but I can't find a new one in stock anywhere.  So it looks like you might have to try and find a used one at a breakers yard.

Part number appears to be 1363081 - you could contact your local Ford parts place to ask if they have one in stock, but there's a very slim chance of that.

(PS - I have now found a 1.6 TDCI one, though it's not in stock - FORD FIESTA BRAKE VACCUM PIPE MK6 2002 - 2008 1.6 TDCI 5S61-2420-BD | eBay )

Thank you for taking the time to find the part and part number. I managed to find another one on eBay at a similar price so I bought it.

In terms of installation, is it as simple as just replacing the pipe and pushing the hose I was holding in the photo onto the new valve?

Yes.  Just check the broken piece isn't still lodged in the end of that pipe.  If you're not familiar with the 'square' plug at the end of the pipe, the two square clips have to pushed together to release it.  But the new one just pushes on until it clicks.
