Old Ford Fiesta mk6 Door Glass

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a old Ford Fiesta mk6 2008 rear driver side door sitting in my garage.

I'm trying to disassemble it and remove the glass.

I've got the door panel off and detached the glass from the white clip but can't get the glass out. Every time I come to lift it up the glass just goes back into it's closed position.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you removed the rubber guides from around the glass?

Have you removed the door inner panel as per Haynes p11.15 paras 29-33 ?

@TomsFocus rubber guides? are they interior or exterior guides?

@Paulkp I did have a Haynes Manual but got rid of it when I sold the Fiesta mk6. Ive removed the door panel but cant get the inner panel with regulator off. Ive removed all 9 bolts, the exterior door handle and push it into the door frame, the 3 lock bolts, and push the door electric cable into the door. Looking online it seems I need to lift and pull the rear downwards and push forward. But it seems stuck at the top middle part of inner panel. Do I need a trim tool to release the top middle bit before sliding the panel off?

Both?  It goes right around the top of the window to hold it in place.

The procedure to get the door panel out sounds correct,, but Haynes says, "...careful manipulation will be needed.."

Lift to release centre catch

Pull panel down at rear

Slide it forwards, keeping thebase pulled out.

I've not done a rear door, but the front is a pig, and I found it a lot easier with the door speaker removed.

@TomsFocus @Paulkp ive attached some pics.

I try to lift it up vertically but nothing releases. I lift it horizontally but seems stuck in the top middle just below the centre hole.

As regards the rubber guides, they seem glued on? 20240911_170431.thumb.jpg.b0d0208d50571f44d480f3bdc3d500d1.jpg

The inner panel can't be removed while the window is still on the regulator.  For now you can tape the window in the fully closed position.  Then lower the regulator and you can remove the panel.

I haven't done a rear window on these so maybe the guides are bonded in.  What is the reason for removing the window?

@TomsFocus I did push in the white plastic clip and disconnect the window from the regulator. Are you saying I should have then put the window in the closed position and rolled down the regulator? If so I'll give this a go.

I had a dent in the door of my old Fiesta mk6.5 and so, I bought this when I still had the car. But I became unwell and then sold the car. I tried selling the whole door on eBay but kept getting messages for parts. So I'm just trying to get rid off it by breaking it down and selling it for parts. Hopefully save someone else from having to scrap their door.

Yes, that's correct.
