Trouble reversing up an incline. Automatic MHEV Fiesta

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm not sure if this is a problem, or a "feature"

I've been driving automatic Fords, and other makes for over 30 years, but never experienced this "problem" with our 2022 Fiesta before.

First noticed it when I was parked downhill, with a car in front and I had to reverse back, so I could pull out. Hill launch doesn't seem to work in reverse, so I had my left foot on the brake and built the revs up a bit. But every time I eased off the brake pedal, the revs seemed to drop and the car lurched forwards. This kept happening and I was getting closer and closer to the car in front. Eventually managed to get out, using the handbrake. Its almost like the rev limiter is kicking in, but before there's enough power to move the car backwards up the hill.

Don't have this problem with my mk4 Mondeo (hill launch does work in reverse) or my 2020 Transit custom.

There's a few months warranty left on it, so wondering if I should book it in. Or is this just normal behaviour?

Thanks

Gary
