High pitch noise when engine turned off

Featured Replies

Hi

I have 1.6 tdcj focus 2014

I recently been away for 2 week then returned home drove the car 50miles then when I woke up the next morning battery was drained to nothing no ignition lights or anything.

So got the car running but when i turned it off there is a high pitch noise coming from the egr valve which i understand is normal for about 5mins. So left car a couple of hour then went back lifted the bonnet and it is still making the same noise if I unplug the electrical plug to egr noise goes to a lower faint pitch but when reconnecting  it is back. I have also noticed that when I turn the ignition off the engine carrys on running until I open the drivers door.

I have spent hours googling and reading but nothing.

Any help/advise would be much apreciated

Thanks

Update so far I took the car to auto electrician tested battery all fine.

Tested alternator said alternator is not putting charge into battery.

The thing is I have no warning lights coming on and I drove the car last night with lights on and stopped for half hour then it started straight back up. Could it be intermittent fault on alternator?

Or should I just get it replaced

Thanks bri

This is common problem with the 2012-2014 Mondeo, never seen it on a Focus before.

Been a month since I started this topic still not replaced washer motor yet but no problems since I cleaned the bcm and plug seatbelt light sorted itself out after a couple of hour.

So so far all is good just need to get round to replacing the screen washer motor

Hope this saves a few peoples heads hurting

Brinsky, just what is a BCM?

Bobsparks

BCM = Body Control Module.

It's integrated with the passenger compartment fusebox.

Thanks for the suggestion.

This noise is intermittent, it seems to have gone away for now. I don't use the car much, only check it when my wife has issues. I was just re-parking the focus and noticed the noise. I am persuaded: "if it ain't broke, don't fixit".

Thanks for your help
