ABS Problem and General Servicing

Featured Replies

On a 2011 Ford Feista S 1.6, is there a fuel filter on this model? The ABS malfuctioned and needs replacing, the car is jutteryy and no power at low speeds and my mechanic tells it's the ABS but not sure I belive him (Im an expat abroad atm and their useless).

Also what should I service? It's my mrs car and she said she serviced it 6 monthes ago, 6 monthes ago and I found a service sticker that was 2+ years. So I wanna keep it alive without having to buy a new car, I was thinking to service:

Oil

Fuel Filter? fuel pump?

Air fitler

Bake Pads,

Automatic gear box oil and new plugs already

Labour cheaps, parts as well.

There isn't a replaceable fuel filter on this model.  The fuel pump doesn't need replacing unless it breaks.

Oil & oil filter should be done every year.  Air filter and spark plugs every 3-5 years.

Pollen filter is optional, I'd recommend that every 1-2 years depending on the environmental conditions where you are.

Brake pads only when they wear out.  Brake fluid recommended every 2 years but the the boiling point can be tested easily at a garage.

Would need much more info of the fault to diagnose whether it's an ABS issue or not.

Cheers, I don't know ***** about Fords and did wonder if these models have a fuel filter but theres quite alot of different Feista models under same production years and its not super clear ... Finding a replacement wing mirror after she nearly killed an asian bird on a moped (lol) was a huge issue as the year didn't seem to matter, some had 5 wires, some had 7 ended up just buying a bunch of chinese plastic parts and rebuilding it.

I haven't been keeping up with her car as you only hear about the problems when it goes Pete Tong otherwise everything is "fine" and it was "serviced just last week" then you sit in it and its a mess. She is only owner and about 160k (kms) on the clock.... ABS? The check engine light came on this year and she took it to a gurage who replaced the spark plugs then tried to charge her 300 quid for coils. I ended up finding a Feista "Specalist" who does only FIestas on the cheap and he found there was a problem with radiator fan fuse or something and fixed a few bits n bobs for next to nothing cash wise.

The check engine light kept coming on, with beeps and the speedo doesn't work (revs do) anymore and then the car started stuttering at low speed making that stalling geary noise even though its an auto. If you jump in the car, put your foot down the car isn't going anywhere but crawls down the road untill a minute or two, it's like it doesn't want to change gear and then finally warms up and is fine. The same mechanic says its the ABS is borked and malfunctioning, second hand is couple hundred quid and brand new is about 500quid, i'm not fully convinced it is only that.

So i'm doing my best to service everything I can think of that probabbly hasn't been serviced in god knows how long before I tackle the ABS, because last thing I want is the engine to go bang and shes stuck home (god forbid) more than she needs to be or I have to fork out for a car or new engine. It is a good little car really, it can get 40C here in summer and it's never broken down despite the poor maintainence its had over the years and I wish I knew more about fords and automatics but my knowledge is lacking compared to sports bikes and Jap crap.
