Ford Puma Auto

Featured Replies

Hi,  Maybe this should be on the Ford Puma forum but as a Fiesta driver, I'd like some comments from Fiesta owners.  I shall be renting a Ford Puma auto in Portugal next week and have a  few queries.   I guess (hopefully) it will be a nearly new car so it should be the latest launched Puma.  Where other cars are descibed as say SW (station wagon), SUV (sports utility) etc. , the hire company describes the Puma auto  as 'AET' which puzzles me.  I see that most reviews describe the Puma as a small SUV which further confuses the issue. Is AET likely to be related to the auto  transmission or something else?  I see that the new Puma is a 'Mild Hybrid' meaning, I assume, a small electric motor assists the petrol engine in certain circumstances and the battery for this motor is charged by an engine-driven generator.

As the driver of a Mk 7 Fiesta, I hope I am not too overwhelmed by the gadgetry the car seems to be equipped with.

Any comments are appreciated.

Alan

It's exactly the same as a MK8 Fiesta

The transmission will be a 7 speed DCT

As you can see from my profile I am a Puma automatic owner. I was a dedicated Fiesta owner for over  20 years. Had to move to a Puma when the Fiesta line closed. I have really grown to love the Puma. As Dave says basically the same as the Mk8 Fiesta and I think you will be surprised how nice the Puma is to drive.

Thanks Dave and jsk.  I'm much heartened by what you say.  As you can see, I currently drive a Mk7 dsg auto which I enjoy driving so the Puma auto should be very easy to adjust to and good to drive.  Of course the rental company site says 'Ford Puma or similar' as they always do but I am hoping it will be a Puma.  It is a very small rental company which we have used several times before and I noted that after my booking, that class of car (G1) changed to 'Sold Out' so they may have only one Puma auto. At short notice I changed my booking from a small manual transmission car to auto (blow the cost!) as I have a temporary (hopefully) issue with my right shoulder and all their cars were sold out except this Puma auto. Sound like a good choice, especially as I've driven autos for many years now.

Let us know how you got on.
