Ecoboost 1.0 oil leak

Featured Replies

Hi guys

first time posting so hope this is in the right forum. Notice an oil leak this week under my 17 plate fiesta 1.0 litre eco boost. Can’t see anything from top of engine but took a photo and seems to be gathering around ridges component in photo and dripping from there (not a mechanic). Got MOT and service next week so just wondering if anyone knows what it could be?

It's coming from higher up than there.

Rocker cover?

Engine mount

Just clean it off with brake cleaner before you go for MOT

The ribbed component is the oil cooler.

Thanks both, I read that it could be an oil filter leak? Is that possible?

If you clean it all off then keep checking often you will see where it's coming from

Oil filters don't generally start leaking as they age, but it's not impossible.  Usually they leak when first fitted if not tightened fully or if the seal wasn't lubricated before fitting.  You can just see the top of the oil filter to the left of the ribbed component.  There isn't any oil on the filter itself as far as a I can see.
