mk6 intermittent wiper upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi, I want to upgrade my intermittent wipers to variable speed. I have the stalk fitted already , wipers and everything else on the stalk works fine. is there a relay somewhere I need to change? I do not have the rain sensor. thanks in advance. This my daughter's car, a mk6 fiesta 2005.

See below for variable intermittent wipe instructions for earlier MK6's;

In the intermittent setting a wipe is performed every 7 seconds when the basic setting is selected.

The intermittent wipe delay time can be adjusted. To do this, the wiper switch is set to the intermittent wipe position and then switched back off after the first wipe. After the desired wipe interval has elapsed the switch is again moved to the intermittent wipe position. The intermittent wipe delay time is then stored in the GEM.

The time delay can be adjusted to between 1 and 25 seconds.

When the ignition is switched off the time delay is reset to the basic setting.

Interesting feature, but presumably a massive hassle in reality every time the rain amount changes during a drive.  Auto-wipers for me every time!

Once you work out turning the intermittent wipe off and then on again adjusts the interval time accordingly, its actually easier than the description leads you to believe.
