LHD lights for Mark 5

Featured Replies

Exporting a Fiesta mark5 to Europe but can’t source any LHD front lights. Unfortunately the original lights on the LHD car were discarded and replaced with an aftermarket UK legal RHD set. To pass the French equivalent of the MOT they now need to be LHD units. I gather it is impossible to change the beam light direction so I need to source a LHD set. Any ideas?

Why do you think that? Something like this should get you through the test...

It'll be virtually impossible to find a set of LHD lights over here.  But there should be loads of them in France/Germany/Spain etc.

The garage told me that some modern cars, Volvos for an example, have a switch to change the direction from driving on the right to the left as needed.  However, the Fiesta headlight for a mark 5 cannot be modified to change from RHD direction beam to that of a LHD vehicle.

I think that looks like my only option but I would like to have an idea of the price and even fit them before my move.

You can buy from abroad and have them shipped over here, if you can find a willing breakers yard.

Sadly you may have to pay an additional 20% VAT to import them since Brexit. 😑 That depends on their value including postage though.  Under £135 customs don't seem to check.

There is often much confusion over the mark number of the Fiesta. Here in the UK we would call a 2007 Fiesta a Mk6.5 or a Mk6 facelift. However in Europe it could be refereed to as a Mk5

eBay France have headlights for sale that fit a 2007 Fiesta and just to confuse things one advert calls it a Mk6 and the other a Mk5 !!!! Perhaps you need to ask if they are LHD ?
