Can I change SOC using FORscan on MK3.5 Focus?

Featured Replies

Hello. Before I waste anymore time researching the 'system off to save battery' drama, does anyone know if I'm able to change the SOC with FORscan on a MK3.5 focus? The impression I get today is that you can on a MK4 but not MK3. I've seen nothing on re the mk3.5.

If I can, I plan to do this, then buy a new battery, make sure the BMS is reset and then hope the car isn't a pain in the ***** to drive anymore. System off message is draining. I turn the sync display off at times to avoid it and boom, it turns it on to tell me it's gonna turn it off. Brilliant! I also get blinking blower LEDs when it comes on. Not sure I've read anymore else mention this. Also jerky car in 1st or 2nd when it does.

Anyway, hoping I change the SOC so hoping someone knows if I can.

Thanks

No.

Sadly the SOC settings only became available for the first time on the 2018 Focus Mk4. On earlier models you can't adjust the SOC. Having said that, there should be no need to alter the charge settings on a Mk3.5 since they don't use the same crazy emissions smart charging that the Mk4 does.

For the Focus Mk3.5 the following battery will be best suited.

Thanks unofix, that's reassuring to know as I guess it simplifies it now. Changing to a new, fully charged battery and then resetting the BMS will hopefully kill that system off message as well as the other crap that I hope is related to the battery.

Thanks for battery advice too although the Halfords site as well as Amazon suggest it isn't suitable for my car. You fitted one with no issue to a MK3.5?

Many people have fitted it to a Focus Mk3 / Mk3.5 it is the battery that is used on the diesel so is more powerful.
