AC Compressor

Featured Replies

Hi all, 2018 Fiesta 1.5 tdci, no air con, is there a common fault and is the compressor the same as any other 1.5 tdci. Fiesta £150 upwards but others like Transit Courier or Ecosport are £30 upwards. TIA.

Has the gas level been checked yet?  May have dropped just below the pressure sensor threshold and need a regas.  If the gas is very low then you should look for a leak before refilling.

The compressors are probably the same on Fiesta & EcoSport.  May be different on Courier.  You would have to check the part numbers against your own.  Also check which gas type they use, if you get a compressor from a pre-2016 car it could be for the old R143a gas.

Also worth saying low battery can prevent the AC coming on in the latest era of Fords.  So if you're having other battery faults then sort that first.

As Tom has mentioned, try re-gassing first, see if there is a leak or just low gas

Ford went through a period of putting just enough Gas in to make it run, to save money

My wife's brand new 2010 Focus 1.6 was 600g +/- 50g and appalling A/C performance and it actually had 450g in and just about ran, so check level first

Thanks for your reply, The gas has been checked. I need to know if the compressors are the same as no one including Ford has one for the Fiesta. Thanks again.

Ok.  Unfortunately the Ford parts catalogues that we can access publicly don't cover the Mk8 Fiesta, or any model after 2016.

So the only option you have is to ask an official Ford parts department to cross reference the part numbers or check the parts numbers on your own car.  However, if they've told you they don't have a Fiesta one in stock, and the EcoSport one is the same, they're unlikely to have that either.

Do you know the compressor has failed?  They don't fail often.
