Weird rear suspension sounds

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm driving a Fiesta, 2010, 1.4 TDCI, and I ran into a problem. Some sort of squeaking rubber noises are coming out of the rear suspension. My mechanic didn't seem to find it because when you move the car it doesn't really happen, those noises are at their peak while driving slowly over really uneven terrain or cornering like crazy. maybe subframe mounts? while going over speedbumps, it's fine, but no so much over a quick and harsh elevation change. maybe some of you ran into this issue?

I'm attaching a video, ignore the rattles 🙂

Thanks

I would agree that's probably the rear axle bushes.  (Fiesta doesn't have a rear subframe as such).

I have just replaced the rear axle bushes on both my 2011 fiestas. I replaced the top mounts, rear spring noise dampeners, checked everywhere in the boot, exhaust heat shield and was generally pulling my hair out to find a squeak coming from the rear. It wasnt until someone mentioned axle bushes that I inspected them and they were well worn. Think they cost £14 a pair from ebay and its not too bad of a job.

I used these videos as a guide:

and got the fitting tool from here:

How long is 'just' but the main questions is this:

Did you tighten up the main bush bolt after lowering & driving the car a few hundred metres ?
Or did you tighten up the main bolts with the wheels off and the arm dropped ?

Which one 🤔
