CSC sealants

Featured Replies

OK, gearbox is back in on the 2008 1.8 TDCI Focus Estate using a couple of scissor jacks, a board and ratchet straps.

Used Permatex 51813 as the CSC to transmission gasket. Sent back Loctite 518 as could not verify it when using Loctite's system (there's loads of fake Loctite out there, so be careful).

This question is about the part of the CSC which extends out to the edge of the bell and ends with the boot and bleeder. I've not seen sealant here (around the boot) before, but it is clearly not water tight (should keep most dust and dirt out though). Should I use some high temperature sealant around the CSC boot to keep all dirt and moisture from entering around the boot, or not?

Any thoughts anyone?
