Park Pilot manlunfction - especially on low fuel

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a new focus (2024 model) and I have an intermittent issue with the park pilot/sensors system. Every once in a while I get a message of "Park pilot malfunction" on the dash, and none of it works until I stop and re-start the car.

I think it might have something to do with low fuel levels: I think I've noticed it happening when fuel levels are low, and it almost always happens when I'm slowing down, almost coming to a stop. For that reason I think it might have something to do with the battery, or the regenerative breaking not generating enough power somehow/charging inadequately, or something along those lines. Does that make sense?

I had it checked and the garage simply says that there's no stored fault code and since they can't see the issue there's nothing they can do...

Any ideas?

Tell the garage that you are giving them one more opportunity to correct the fault or you will reject the vehicle as is your right to do so.

My guess is the garage will be much more keen to investigate more thoroughly and not just fob you off.

FYI the problem is very likely to be a low State Of Charge (SOC) as Park Pilot  does use a lot of electrical energy.
