battery change focus 2019

Featured Replies

Hello,

The battery in my 2019 Ford Focus 1.0L 125HP with Start-Stop has died. I'm thinking of replacing the original 60Ah/600A EFB with a 70Ah/650A EFB. Has anyone done this? Could the difference in amperage cause any issues, and is it necessary to reset the battery management system (BMS) after the swap?

Thanks!

Lots of us have swapped to a Yuasa YBX7096. It’s the highest capacity that can fit the mk4.

The CCA and Ah just show the maximum rated current draw and capacity. The only things that’s “pushing” is the 12V voltage which is the same across all batteries.

The important thing is to never put a smaller battery than came with the car. But larger batteries often last longer if they can fit.

Yes. Fully charge the new battery before fitting then reset the BMS. Amongst other things this resets the battery age counter.
