New tire pressure sensors aren't recognised

The tire pressure sensors have failed on my 2015 Ford Focus TDi estate. Great car but try as I might - and I've tried - the car won't recognise the replacement sensors. Initially I thought the problem related to non-Ford sensors. So, I've now spent out on a full set of replacement sensors - the problem persists. The independent garage I use has sought advice from a chain tire specialist with a good local rep. No joy. They're recommending going to Ford which I'd sooner avoid. No offence to Ford but the labour costs (as checked) could go into hundreds. Sensible suggestions welcome.
