Jo100001
Been reading a lot about the eco engine going boom because of the wet belt Can this be checked ? Eric Bloodaxe
You've been on here almost 3 years so must have seen the dozens of threads** on the subject which indicate it's definitely not scaremongering. The Ford recommended change interval is 10 years maximum, many would recommend doing it now. **See this recent thread where the belt failed literally days before it was booked in for replacement. https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/156090-eco-boost-wet-belt/

Jo100001
So if we do decide to get the wet belt changed , what other parts are needed at the same time ?? oil pump ?? thank you in advance

Normally recommended to get the oil pump drive belt changed at the same time. The oil pump strainer should be cleaned out at least, or new pump as you suggest. Many would recommend changing the water pump at the same time, though it can be done seperately from the cambelt. Ford dealers charge up to £1800+ for the job. There are independents who typically do it for around the £1000 mark.. I don't think we've found one local to you, if you come across one do let us know. In either case, check carefully exactly what is included. For info: this is about the cheapest we've found for a new engine: https://pumaspeed.co.uk/product-Brand-new-Ford-Service-10-Ecoboost-Engine_18898.jsp

If the car is otherwise in good order, you're happy with it, and want to keep it a good few years yet, then getting the belt done now would probably be a sensible move. Otherwise, if planning a swap, now would be a good time while there's still (in theory) 2 years to the belt change. Another factor to consider/look out for, is that we have seen a lot of threads about 140ps ecoboosts eating the synchros on the 5 speed box at around this mileage, particularly if remapped and/or driven "enthusiastically".
