Good evening, does anybody know what the vacuum unit under the EGR valve Does on a 2011 titanium TDI 1.6. Thanks in advance

Assuming it's a Mk3, that's the EGR cooler bypass valve.

It's a small butterfly valve that normally allows EGR gas to be circulated through the cooler, but can be closed to allow the gas the bypass the cooler altogether when needed, helps with a quicker warm up for example.

Thanks for getting back so quick, I don’t think it operates a butterfly valve on the end of the vacuum actuator lever. There is like a little pick up which sits underneath a sensor, if that makes any sense

You can see the vacuum unit underneath the electrical plug for the EGR, then at the other end of the actuator lever there is a pivot point which moves well I would call a pick up, the pick up is currently sitting under a sensor which is next to the wires going to The EGR plug any ideas as to what this sensor does will be greatly appreciated.
