Fiesta MK7 - buzzing sound at the front right sound speaker

Featured Replies

Hello!

I have recently got a Ford Fiesta MK7 2019 with around 44.000 kms, so it should be in good condition.
Everything was fine until today, but today I noticed something.

When I turn some kind of music on (it does not matter if it is Spotify or Radio), I hear a "buzzing" or "crackling" sound from the front right speaker which is in the front right door.
When I change the sound balance completely to the left side (so no sound is coming from the right side), everything sounds clean and awesome.
When I turn it to "mid" or even completely right, I hear this buzzing and crackling sound, it resembles like when you have a bad radio connection, but that can't be the case because on the left speakers everything is good all the time + it happens on Spotify as well.

You can hear the music as well from the right, but there is also this weird buzzing/crackling sound.

Last time there were no issue at all, but today when I turned it on, it started happening.
What can the problem be?
Anyone had any experience with similar issue?

Thank you!

You probably have a loose voice coil in that speaker. You need to replace it as they can't be repaired.

That does not sound too good.
Can't it be something like a loose wire in the door?

At least I am taking the car to its yearly maintenance soon, I guess I will ask the mechanic the take a look at this issue as well if it persists until then... 😞

Sorry, my car is an MK8 btw, not an MK7, I just checked..

It's not that bad. They are quite cheap to replace and no, it's not likely a loose wire. Voice coils typically come loose when people overdrive the speakers by turning the volume up high in the quest for lots of noise!

You can buy a pair of Pioneer speakers for the fiesta for around £50 and it really isn't hard to get the door off and replace. You could check for loose connection etc but they often have a clip (almost certain yours will) which stops loose connections unless its the pin in the connector itself. If you wanted to spend even less you can probably find some genuine Ford Fiesta ones on eBay for even less.
