What’s this called?

Anybody know if I can replace this and how? The clip has broke off and won’t stay on the plug for the spark plugs 😞

I've broked several cable connectors in my time and never had to replace the broken part.

Just get out your selection of cable ties/ zip ties and fit one so that it retains the 2 parts of the connector together.

Just don't put the cables themselves under any load and you will be fine.

ScaniaPBman.

the stupid brittle plastic rubbish on the end of wiring looms (AKA Multiplug) is called the "pin bush housing" - unsure if Ford bother to sell, BMW and Merc can get them all - you just ask the parts dept - the silly terminals slip out of the plug when you find the silly retention tab and you just pop them in the new unbroken bit

you could look for one here https://auto-connectors.co.uk/collections/ford

Only a few Years ago Ford started offering wiring harness repair kits. These repair kits consist of an assembly of the connector housing, connector pins and approximately 20 cm of wiring.

* Just an example of a genuine Ford (Motorcraft) wiring jharness repair kit.

Disadvantages are that these wiring harness repair kits are way overpriced (between €25,- and €50,- for a 2-pin repair kit is not uncommon) and only the most common connector types are covered.

Before Ford started offering these wiring harness repair kits they only offered complete wiring harnesses.

Most of the connector types that Ford uses are standard automotive connectors and have a manufacturer part number casted into the plastic of the connector housing. Most connectors can easily be identified by this part number.

Common connector manufacturers that Ford uses are for example TE Connectivity / AMP, Amphenol and Molex.

Connectors of these manufacturers are widely available from suppliers like for example Farnell, Mouser and RS components.

The Ford Duratec HE COP (Coil On Plug) connector is extremely common on many Ford vehicles and replacement connectors can easily be found at several suppliers. Just a few examples:

Ford Duratec coil-on-plug 2-pin connector (emeraldm3d.com)
Ford Duratec Coil on Plug 2 Pin Connector | eBay
Ford Mustang / Duratec Coil Connector — Road Race Rally Trading Limited (rrrshop.co.uk)

Many of these connector will be non original Chinese replacements but in most cases the quality of these connectors is more than sufficient to do the job.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve managed to de-pin the connector but it’s pretty much disintegrated inside. The red clip and part of the black housing just crumbled away so will definitely need a new clip now.

Having the skills/experience and tools to spin the connector is often a challenge on top of finding the right connector to use.

If you’re able to find the connector on the wiring schematic, ‘C’ number on wiring for plug connector then find the matching one in the face-views pages it’ll give the Ford engineering part number which may then give some Google results for a suitable alternative

Check both parts of the connector for manufacturer and part number. I've done this for my Harley a couple of times and then bought the connectors on AliExpress for peanuts.
