Ford 1.0 Sync Issues

Featured Replies

Hello, I really hope someone can help me because I'm at my wit's end with my SYNC problem with my Ford Fiesta Zetec 1.0 EcoBoost (2013).

Context: There was a period of one week where I did not drive my car because of bad bad weather where I live. I came to drive it after that week and was met with black screen of death - SYNC. I thought it might be something to do with the rain or not driving it for a week so I drove it around a lot since then with all the heaters on and I've also had the battery checked and neither of those things have made much of a difference. It does all sorts of weird and highly frustrating things but has not 'worked' at all. By that I mean it will not get past the initial Ford intro screen. Sometimes it comes up with the clock, sometimes Just a black screen again. I have googled the s*** out of it and have done all manner of resets and things but nothing works. Battery is absolutely fine and I have also disconnected and reconnected it after 10 minutes to see if that resets anything but that doesn't work. Sometimes I think it's going to work, and then it just comes up saying 'sync connection error' and stays on the Ford screen. Ideas on a postcard are most welcome! I'm a single clueless-about-cars woman and the car is probably only worth about a 1.5k So if there's any parts or anything that I could buy in in advance of taking it to be fixed by Ford to save money then that would be incredible. Thank you very much

I would try unplugging the audio module to make sure that gets fully reset.  It's behind the buttons fascia.  (Youtube vids show how to remove).

As you mention not knowing much about cars though, are you aware the wet timing belt should have been replaced at 10 years old?  That can cost as much as the car's worth now.  So you may prefer to consider changing car rather than putting any more effort into the Sync system.
