Drivers wing overheating just above light

Featured Replies

My 2018 focus bonnet/wing above the front light driver's side has recently started to intermittently get very hot whereas the bonnet and nearside wing is cold as you would expect.

Any ideas ?

I'm just curious how you noticed this phenomena. Not many of us are in the habit of feeling the car for temperature variances...

Probably could see the orange glow in the dark. Nothing to worry about until it gets red hot 🤣

As I walked away from car I could feel heat emanating from it and then obviously checked bonnet/wing to find it was hot.

Is this a site where people try to help or just make sarcastic comments ?

Pretty much both...

The only thing generating heat at the front of your car is the radiator. Can't imagine though why one side would be hot, and the other cold. I'll leave you to other members who may  be of more help, best of luck...

Best thing to do in that scenario would have been to lift the bonnet and pinpoint where the heat is coming from.

There are various things that could create heat there but we don't know which Mk, trim or engine you have.  Could be ballast from xenon headlights.  Intercooler on some models.  Coolant reservoir & pipework.  To name a few.

Hope you're not being sarcastic 🤣
