Pioneer 300w Speakers on a 58 Fiesta Zetec MK7 Worth or not?

Featured Replies

Had a whole thing going on with a secondhand sub which I should be getting a refund for so while I wait for that to sort itself out and buy a new one I was wondering if anyone has fitted these 300w Pioneer front speaker upgrade for the 58 Fiesta? Couldn't find much if anything on whether the difference is worth the 60 quid or if its pretty much the same? Also any suggestions which are in a similar price range that fit a Fiesta would be welcome too.

I can never recommend Pioneer speakers enough

Unless you upgrade your head unit it will struggle to drive them bad boys and sound worse and quieter

A "300W" loudspeaker is only really about 40W RMS.....

I think I would second that for a car speaker, and for a '02-'08 Fiesta/Fusion, Ford offered Pioneer speakers.

When you say upgrade your head unit what are you referring to specifically. I was planning on upgrading to one of those Android/Carplay systems as I know I will be able to access the terminal as Android is basically Linux and so you can also get in if you know how allowing me to run my own scripts, mount remote servers and such. I'm guessing you are referring to those boxes behind the stereo fascia (the brains so to speak) as I'm guessing this is where a small built in amplifer is located? Could you provide a link of an upgrade for the correct part. Just one will do to put me on the right path?

Could you send a photo of your radio to see what model you have

Hi sorry for the delay I've been so busy between work, eBay business and laying a base/building a shed I've just not had the time to get back to you. Here is the image you requested.

Ah..an early mk7

Thought it was a mk6 being a 58 reg.

You can change to a different version of mk7 head unit but I would personally change to an android but not to high as it would obscure some of the lower part of your window

And not a basic version..remember you get what you pay for

A lot of those reg checkers for parts encounter a similar issue. Some sellers know that 58 MK7s exist but some think it didn't start until 09. Mine is obviously proof this isn't the case. Its a shame because there is one of those android systems which rather than having the screen up high puts it in place of the default stereo. I'm quite sure it will fit but eBay's checker says no only for 09 onwards. If I were to buy it would be a big risk due to showing on the will it fit checker.

Title has 08 on, image has 09 on and reg checker returns will not fit. I'm not willing to take the risk just in case it doesnt. Maybe I will send them a message and see if they can provide any further information.

Do these systems come with a different box behind a fascia with an uprated amp then? I just got my refund for a second hand Edge sub/amp on eBay so looking to grab another one and it could even be my LOC is actually the broken part. Regardless it would be much easier to just run it from the RCA outputs these Android systems have.

Had a right touch this morning. I messaged the seller of (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355956358062) laying out that its one of the earliest MK7 (6 outside UK) Fiestas and the reg fit tool says it doesn't fit. Provided him with the image I uploaded to show you and said it matches the before images can you confirm if this item will fit my car. Came back super quick saying it will. Well happy because not only is the screen 1.1" bigger than basically all the other Android options which come in around 9". Doesn't sound like much but is actually quite a difference due to being corner to corner and not simply up/down/left/right. On top of that rather than being mounted all in the position of the little red or blue screens it occupies part of the area which the old standard stereo sits.

That looks nice and not high to obscure you screen

That is one of the big points. I thought I might have to keep hold of my old unit just to be sure when it comes to MOT time. Some of these units seem to sit so high. Maybe it just looks that way but this one answers this problem. Won't need line out converters either as it has rca outputs. Will put the order in and get cracking.

That's the best looking android one I've seen.

Ill post an image/update once it arrives and I've got it fitted. Buzzing though because it looks really nice and avoiding LOC's for subs is always a plus.
