Brake vacuum pump/coolant loss

Featured Replies

I have a 2017 1.0 ecoboost and have changed two brake vacuum pump valves and they keep going. I keep getting the same error code of p0299 and loss of power when the error message pops up. What may be causing these to keep breaking?

I have also noticed that my coolant is disappearing alot more frequently than it ever has before.  Theres no obvious leaks and i have only just had my sump removed to check that the oil is fine & oil pump isnt blocked.  Are either of the issues related?

Are you sure, your profile says you have a 2001 Focus Mk1 ? 🤔

Have you checked for cracking on the underside of the reservoir. This is a common problem on the 1.0L Ecoboom.

I assume you mean the silicone diaphragm that serves the turbo system rather than the brakes. Maybe you've just been unlucky but I do see ppl complaining the cheapest (Chinese sourced) ones don't last long.

Just buy and fit another making sure the 'pip' on the diaphragm is located in the removable cage.

Removal/refitment of the sump should have no affect on the cooling system as none of those parts are involved.
