Timing belt slipping on eco boost

Featured Replies

I have had the belt replaced on a 2015 eco boost, after which I had some timing performance issues. I had lost confidence in that garage and so had it reset at another garage. It has now gone out again. The fault code is camshaft crankshaft lack of coherence. Does anyone have any ideas what might be happening please?

Hi Phil.

Did the second garage confirm the timing belt had actually slipped? It is surprising for this to even happen once (but not beyond possibility if installed incorrectly) but to happen twice is hard to imagine.

I think I'd be looking more towards a dodgy sensor or perhaps the cramshaft solenoids not working correctly, and given they are oil-controlled it could be down to pressure issues. Do you know if any oil-related issues were spotted when the belt was changed e.g. signs of the oil being contaminated with a failing belt, blocked strainer etc?
