Featured Replies

Sandicliffe Ford have a special offer on at the moment to replace the wet belts on a Fiesta for £1350.

Sounds expensive compared to this one recently featured on the forum...

But quite a good price for a Ford dealer, from what we've seen.

Still, £550 cheaper is quite a difference 😃

It certainly is. The question we keep struggling to answer is: what is a fair price for this job, taking account of the labour and parts involved and the need for a business to turn a profit.

Sandicliffe are a very long established dealer group who enjoy a good reputation from what I have seen but obviously bear a higher cost base than a smaller outfit.

We know from those who have attempted it that it is a big job, but we are probably correct in thinking figures like £1800-2000 (and more) are over the top if not taking the p*ss.

But is £799 too low? I had a little nosey around on Faceache and this is a small-ish independent business doing used car sales and servicing/repairs, so their overheads and labour rates will be lower than big franchise dealers with the marble floors and coffee with logos in the froth, etc.

If they've acquired all the tools and built up some experience of these jobs, they may have found ways to clip the time involved. Customer comments on Faceache and local review sites are very positive.

It would be good, though, to get feedback from a member on here who has used them - it looks like @AlecJ on another thread was interested?

If I was in the situation needing that work, even if the place was nowhere near me, would be worth booking a cheap B&B and taking the other half for a midweek break... Points in all round 😃

Yes, we've suggested that on other threads. Bit like people who go abroad for dental treatment!😀
