What could a delayed acceleration mean in 1.0 Ecoboost mean?

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I have the 95hp Fiesta and have bought it recently. I have noticed a power delay under acceleration and it tends to be more prominent in the normal driving mode Vs sports mode.

Also I can hear the waste gate open if I push down on the peddle further but no more power comes through in those few seconds. Has anyone else had these problems and what does it sound like it could be?

It's the newer 2020 engine. My previous 99hp one with the old block felt quicker and more torquey lower down in the revs, turbo could spool up quickly at 1600rpm, (not that I did it often) and would pull abruptly by comparison.

Thanks in advance.

I've not driven the 95ps, but it could just be down to difference in throttle mapping. Quite possible that "normal" is not as sharp as the old version, as you say sport sharpens things up. As mentioned on your other thread, the chain cam and wet belt versions both have a nominal 170Nm torque, but the shape of the torque curve may differ, which may also be a factor in how it feels.

There aren't many 95ps on here - it only appeared for 2020 MY and was gone from the price list by March 2021, the old 100ps reappearing until the end of Fiesta production. Hopefully another owner may be able to comment.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply Eric! That could be the case with how the torque is mapped in the engine. Didn't realised they stopped the 95hp version and bought the old power output back. Mine is march 21' so it must be one of the very last ones lol.

I wonder if the torque curves are online somewhere just to compare. Also didn't get a chance to reply to last post as it was taken down which was a bit dramatic haha.

Yes driving it today, I've noticed it's a lot better in sports mode. Brilliant car overall though!
