Keyless Entry & Start - 2023 Fiesta Titanium X

Featured Replies

My fiesta has keyless entry & start and, like anyone, I'm concerned about vehicle theft.

I'm considering getting a faraday pouch for my key fob, but I know I can disable keyless entry and use the key fob buttons instead to open the vehicle (as well as 'double locking' the vehicle by pressing the lock button twice).

How much safer is my vehicle with keyless entry disabled, and does it remove the need to get a faraday pouch?

So working on the theory that your car is at risk of theft because of the keyless system, that must mean in the olden days when cars had real metal keys they never got stolen 🤣

I'd think you're quite safe, would a car thief want to steal a MHEV ?

Not sure how you can have a 2025 Fiesta in your profile?😀

Anyway, I turned mine off the day I got the car. Main reason being as Ford kindly removed the mirror folding function, there's no way to see if the doors are locked without physically checking - when they unlock if keyless is active!

I still keep my keys in a metal container anyway and use a physical steering wheel lock also, on a "belt and braces" basis.

As often said, if someone really wants your car they'll have it, all you can do is make it more difficult.

Incidentally, FWIW, I've had 2 cars stolen in over 50 years, neither had keyless (it wasn't invented then!😀).

Please check as I think your car may have come with motion sensing key fobs that go to sleep if no movement had been detected for 40 seconds.

Yes, it should. On the Fiesta since 2019 afaik.

After being alerted to this theft possibilty, I made my own 'Faraday Pouches' (one for the spare key) out of several layers of kitchen foil after looking at several You Tube videos.  I covered them with black gaffer tape unlike the one in the link below.  The fobs are kept in their pouches in the house and is no inconvenience.  I'm pretty certain they work because I cannot open the car if the fob is in its pouch.  Remove from pouch - it works again.

The attached photo is of my main pouch and is showing signs of wear after 2 yrs of use.

You can also buy them quite cheaply of course

Looks a 'quality' job 😉
