Engine cleaning

Featured Replies

Which way is more efficient for cleaning inside the engine?

Soda blasting or carbon (hydrogen) cleaning?

I write here so I can easily keep up with the answers as I am curios about the topic but don't know much about it.

I guess the main thing I don't understand is where does all the dirt go when it is cleaned. Is it vacuumed or does it go inside the engine?

Isn't it safer to run the engine on petrol with detergent additives and let it clean itself up? I think it may be safer because it removes deposits slower than a cleaner so the engine has the time to either burn those away or for the oil to keep them/filter those in the oil filter?

I don't know which petrol would that be in the UK. I know in Austria the OMV has this kind of fuel, but i don't know if OMV is present in the UK.

My focus engine has been cleaned with hydrogen (carbon cleaning).

I have to say that performance was better for a while.

But some claim that soda blasting cleans a lot more the engine even difficult to be cleaned parts.
