You don't need to do it on that car.

And the new one will probably last as long, there is only a tiny Sleeping Current Draw on these cars.

I like an optimist 😀

The new one will be made in China out of old bean cans. 🤣

Hmm, one of my Mk2's had a new battery during the warranty period around 2 years old.  That then failed around 8 years old after a couple of weeks without use.

The other one was on its 4th battery at 12 years old, which died after being left unused.  But that one was keyless, and it's not a great system on Mk2, the keyless ones do seem to rip through battery unless they're used every day.

I think you need some of my Lucky White Heather Tom😁, the one on my Mk 2.5 was almost 10 years old  and started first time after sitting for two months.

I did check the Sleeping Current Draw before not using it and it was only about 10 mA, I can't remember exactly, my current car is nearer 50 mA.

All this talk of batteries is reminding me I should probably check the Golf battery over the weekend. Think it must be 3 or 4 months since I last ran it. Not keyless fortunately.  Still in the same property so mains charging isn't really viable here.
