Steering Problem

Featured Replies

hello everyone i have a problem with my ford focus ST 2015 2.0 ecoboost
when i drive the car and i make a left turn, the car wants to keep going to the left. and i have to respond by pulling the steeering wheel to the right to keep it on the road. If i let go of the pressure on the steering wheel it feels like the car will continue driving to the left by itself and eventually continue drive itself off the road.

this is the weird part the same applies when i try to make a right turn , and the Same problem occurs. in conclusion if i drive either to left or right the same problem occurs. This also applies if the road slightly tilts to the left or right, then you also have to keep counter-steering in order to keep the car on the road.
I have had my car to a repair shop, and they dont know whats wrong whit it they mentioned it could be some problem with the electric steering-servo. What do you guys think the problem could be?

Kind Regards Mikael.

If the Front Suspension is original and the Caster Angle of the wheels is what it should be and the car has not had accident damage then it could be the Electric Steering system, if it is then Electric Steering then I'm not sure what you can do about it.

I would also check that PDC - Pull-Drift Compensation is turned off, as that greatly improves driving (it was turned off as standard in cars around late 2016, I believe). I had mine done at my Ford dealer for free (others have been charged). You may also be able to turn it off with FORScan, but I'm not sure.

FORScan did add a Service Procedure to enable or disable Pull Drift Compensation for the Mk3 and Mk3.5 Focus, I don't know if it is still there or if it works ok or not.

Because it's a Service Procedure you don't need an Extended Licence and you may be able to do it with the Phone versions of FORScan.
