Hi, 

As we approach winter, and the darker nights are upon us once more, I think about the possibility of replacing the headlamps for my car. Looking at mot requirements, if the headlamp unit is designed to use led bulbs, this looks life it should not be a fail at mot time. 

 

But does anywhere do these conversion kits? Has anyone had any luck getting hold of one? We live on a very dark country lane, and the additional light afforded my leds would be very much appreciated!

    Not familiar with Mk3 headlights, but if they are simple 'projector' headlights, you can get LED bulbs that will work really well, and get them professionally aligned so not to blind oncoming drivers. Yes, they are an MOT failure, but mine have passed the last 2 years as they are correctly aligned, and there is really no way of determining they are LED without taking them out - and that is not allowed for MOT purposes.

    To be legal you need complete replacement E-marked LED headlight units, not just bulbs. The lenses need to be designed for LED bulbs.
