Transit Custom Wiper Recalibration

Featured Replies

Hi All, has anyone been able to recalibrate their wipers after changing the blades. Sadly i have changed both wiper blades but the passenger wiper just clips the a frame . Does anyone know how to recalibrate please.

Thanks in Advance

Tnarg

Replacing wipers shouldn't make any difference. Unless the wipers you have put on are more flexible. Anyway. Just loosen the arm and tweak it a bit to stop it clipping the frame. Switch the ign on while undoing the nut that holds the arm to spindle. Give the arm a wiggle to get it loose off the splines and reposition just a fraction to get the blade to miss.

Hi Ian, im sure my wipers are the type which require recalibration. Basically i can go to the wipers with the ignition off and i can move them anywhere on the screen, where as the old type you couldn't move at all.

The calibration process is to ensure that the left and right wipers work together and don't collide with each other. If the problem is that one of the wipers is slightly out of position with regards to either the bottom of the screen or the 'A' pillar then the correct adjustment is mechanical as described above by iantt.

Calibration won't change unless you change both wiper motors.

I've only ever had to do calibration once back in 2012 ISH. Replacing wipers blades is just  a case of off with the old, on with the new.
