Help, no start and tonnes of fault codes

Featured Replies

Hello, my fiesta 1.4 tdci battery was flat for a couple of months, yesterday I took the battery out to change and today I went to put it back in and try and start it. I got a small splitter and they was it, just cranking with no lighting off. I plugged my obd in and got tonnes of codes. The entire cars system doesn't seem to to talking with eachother?

Some of these screenshots are before I cleared the codes after charging the battery, so ignore the low voltage ones

All seems normal behavior given whats just happened.

If the battery voltage fell below 8V then it will never fully recover no matter how much you charge it. In the ideal world, even with a battery in good condition but just needing to be charged then it should be charged while still fitted and connected to the vehicle.

You're going to need a new battery. Then use your code reader to clear all the DTC's once it has been fitted and see which codes come back. On a 2007 Focus there is a good probability that it has the problem with the broken solder joints in the instrument cluster.

Any thoughts on this @rd457 ???

Hi, yeah I'll give it a go with a new battery tomorrow. Do we know the issue with the crank but no start? No spark at all.

This my a 2009 fiesta 1.4 remember ☺️. My focus has been spot on recently

I'm not reading all of those.

If you've got any 'theft detected' codes then the immobiliser may prevent the spark.

If not, then just post the engine codes that still come up with a new battery.

Ugh, I had a skim through the list, but it's just a useless mess. Many of them have a status of test not completed since last reset, so those need ignoring, odd ones related to battery to be ignored, a few left that are possibly relevant but hard to say considering what's just been done with the battery. Replace the battery if needed, clear things, give tests a chance to run, then have a look at what's left.

The fiesta clusters (types 2e and 2f in my listing - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314393033915) don't suffer from the cracked IC connector solder joint issue.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments. I finally got it started after a brand new battery and I plugged in my laptop and loaded up forscan and reset every single module and after cranking for 5 seconds she fired into life. Ran like a bag of nails for a minute then revved absolutely fine. Now it starts perfectly. My injector seals need a replacement though. That's my next job

Glad you put a new battery on. With the codes now cleared you can keep an eye on it over next few days and just check for any DTC's that might come back.
