Fiesta Missing Sport Mode

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Fiesta ST Line 2020 and there is no option on the dashboard to enter sport mode. Only Normal and eco mode appear.

There are no warning lights or engine faults.
Ive tried charging the battery and topping up the tyre pressure. Still no luck.

Any ideas why this might be happening and how to fix?

Older ST-Lines don't have Sport mode.

I've seen display videos of the same model as mine with sport mode.

I contacted ford and they said I should have sport mode however they wanted £160 just for them to look at it. Could cost more depending on labour required and any parts....
Use manual also shows sport mode as an option.

Odd one that.  Another owner with a 2020 recently posted about it, thread here:

Specs were changing quite a lot around 2020 so it's quite possible yours might have missed it.

To clarify:

Exactly what engine do you have?

What happens when you press the mode button repeatedly? It should cycle through the available modes. If It only comes up with Eco and Normal that would suggest you don't have it.

It's no great loss in any case imo, just sharpens up the throttle response compared to "Normal". You don't get any extra power. I certainly wouldn't pay Ford £160 (or more!***) - I had an ST-L without "Sport" for 5 years and it was absolutely fine.

*** but if you recently purchased it from a dealer and they described it as having "Sport" you need to take it up with them.

I did think it was a possibility the car didn't have the option however it seems quite strange given it has 140bhp?
Specs: ST-Line Edition 1.0T EcoBoost 140PS 3d 2020/20
Reg Date: 29 May 2020

When I press the button I only get "normal" and "eco" mode.
I was concerned the car may be experiencing a fault which disables the sport mode potentially? No warning lights on the dashboard though.

Mine was also a 140. Ford were constantly messing with the specs during the life of the Mk 8/8.5 so it's difficult to pin stuff down. I think the Sport mode was added to cars (other than STs which had it from launch) built from late 2019 on, so if yours was built around then but not registered until May, it's probably missed it. Plus a lot of stuff got omitted due to Covid around that time anyway.

So it seems normal.

Fair enough 🙂

Thanks for your help, really appreciate it

My 2019 ST-Line 140 only had the Eco mode. Found that pretty pointless though as all it seemed to do was damp the throttle response for no gain in economy.

Has the car been to Liverpool ?

It may have had it stolen 🤣

The only time I use it is when the engine is cold to stop you putting too much load on engine with cold oil. I have been told you should be gentil with cold thick oil. I turn it off when temp gauge rises to normal. I have left it on, on occasions and haven't noticed any improvement in economy.
