Mk2 - Auxiliary Drivebelt - OEM Replacement VS Current

Featured Replies

Hi I’ve been planning to replace my auxiliary drive belt.

The replacement I’ve bought is FINIS 1760376 (Belt code 6PK 1213).

However the current one on there is 6PK 1249SF.

Reading into the belt codes they’ve got the same cross section (6PK) but different overall length.

The replacement is 36mm shorter in overall length. This is going to be very difficult to fit in my mind so I’ve not attempted yet.

I understand the belts are stretch ones but to stretch plus the additional 36mm seems excessive to me and likely to cause damage.

Can anyone advise if this is correct / normal and I should have no issue fitting.

Or have I got the current routing of the belt incorrect or has a different size pulley on the water pump, idler pulley, alternator or crank been used which may account for the longer belt currently being used?

You have the wrong part.

@unofix ahhhh I see. But the parts catalogue only shows this belt?

Should I contact Ford directly for the correct part number or can anyone advise on here correct part number?

Or shall I get the matching part number off the belt I currently have?

If you enter your VIN number here you should be able to get the correct Finis code:

6PK1249SF equates to 1760376

I think you have been supplied with the wrong part. The Finis code is correct for a 6PK1249SF

The 1760376 from Official Ford Store (eBay) has come as 6PK 1213.

Is this a superseded number? Or have I been sent wrong part. Everything seems to match on the packaging wand part in terms of the long WERS / Engineering part number.

The packaging looks correct, not so sure it is the correct belt.

Personally I'd buy the belt from Autodoc and feel happy that I was using the correct size.

Thank you @TomsFocus. I’ll see how the fitting goes! Seems like it should be able to stretch as per your message above.
