Maps update

Featured Replies

Anyone else had a problem updating there log file after latest map update I got in touch with Ford they said they would sort it out but it still says map update available

Then better try cyanlabs software and map upgrade and update.

Hi Dave

Join the club, I think quite a few of us are suffering from this problem. Reported exact same fault to ford a few weeks back. Expecting another phone call on Thursday from Ford explaining it is still being investigated, I would think. It does usually get fixed. I have had this problem a few times with both Sync 3 and Map updates.

I am assuming, like me, if you go into map updates all you find is two small files.

I uploaded the log file to Ford site and it accepted it but still says the is a map update available been in touch with Ford still waiting for them to sort it I’m not holding my breath

I'm having exactly the same issue.  Updated the latest maps to the car, got the confirmation file, uploaded it to the Ford system which confirms it been accepted but then disappears and still says theres a Map update available.  I've tried to upload the confirmation file numerous times over the past month and each time it does the same thing.

It's such a small update and is completed via USB in pretty much a couple of minutes.  Does anyone know exactly what it suppoosedly does to the Maps programme ?

Hi Andy

Welcome to the map update club. As you can see from my entry above quite a few having this problem. As to the two small files that are now offered after your main map update. I have no idea what they are supposed to do.

I have downloaded them and upload them to my car. Nothing seems to change and you do not get a log file on completion.

As I mentioned above expacting my third telephone call from Ford tomorrow. Expecting it to be another one saying it is still being investigated. When I had this problem with my last Sync 3 update the fault did finally clear on the day of my routine Ford call backs, so heres hoping.

Can you keep us informed on what they have to say ?

Phone call today as expected. Still being investigated. Another phone call next Thursday.

I've tried to upload my confirmation file yet again today without success.

JSK - any update or are they still working on it ?

Cheers, Andy

Andy, had a phone call last Thursday and was infomed that they are still working on the problem. They agree there is a problem and they are working on it but don't know how long it will take. I have agreed for my case file to be closed but they will inform me by email when the problem has been sorted.

Just hope next time there is a map update I get the option of downloading it. Can't see Ford getting fix by then.

Thanks for the update JSK.  I won't hold my breath. 😜

Hi, I have the same problem as above. I have Sync 3.4.23188 and maps F12. Although it appears to be running F12 successfully, if I go to the Ford website it shows 'MAP update is available'. However that's not my problem.

I have tried to update to maps F13 via WiFi. If I scan for updates it says my maps are up to date but shows a date of 17th January (today is 27th), it also displays that my maps is still at F12 not F13.

Even though it shows maps being up to date it immediately starts to download a file ****58080000.tar.gz. This is taking ages over WiFi as I have to restart the internet connection every 15 minutes.

If the maps are up to date, what is it still downloading? If the maps are not up to date why does it display that my maps are up to date?

If I had a long trip planned I would try the USB update method but I have no long trips planned.

Anyone else seen this?

Ian

I suggest you go the USB route.  Plug it into your car and let it do its thing. Each time you strat your car and drive it will pickup from where it left off after the last trip. It also keeps downloading after you switch the ignition off for about a further 15 minutes.

I did this with mine and it was quite happy and downloaded F13 in a couple of days. After that you get into the saga of the log file not telling Ford it has been updated. But thats another story!

Looks like map update problem is sorted mine is all update on the website now

I've just tried mine again but no joy.  Lets you upload the file, disappears and then still says that I've got a Maps Update available.  I've tried two different browsers (Firefox and Edge) as I wondered if my Firefox with an Adblocker on, might be causing the issue but Edge does exactly the same.  Oh well, one day it might work. Glad to hear you've sorted yours DaveG1975. 😊

I contacted Ford via chat on there website and they said they would sort it out been a long time got a £50 voucher as well of a service for the inconvenience try getting in touch them via the chat

Just checked mine again after Dave's response. Mine now up to date on the website as well. Taken long enough.

No doubt will have to go through the same process again after the next Sync and Map update.

Just had a thought. The past week I have been visiting my daughter. While parked at her house my car automatically connects to her wi-fi where at home I have to park to far away for my wi-fi to connect. Could this be a reason it has cleared?

Does everyone leave there WiFi turned on all the time any problem with car battery going flat with it been on all the time

The wi-fi will only continue for about 15 minutes after the ignition is off. At this point all the modules in the car have sorted themselves out and shut down. As I mentioned earlier in this post, updating maps via usb just plug it in and forget about it. It will continue to download with the engine running and continue downloading for about 15 minutes after ignition turned off. It also picks up from where it left off.

Success, at last !! Fairly certain it has got something to do with the Wi-Fi, as normally, my car is parked too far away from the house to connect.  However, I brought the car to the front of the house, connected to the Wi-Fi and clicked to check for Updates. Although the screen had the swirl on it and I switched it off after about 15 minutes, it seems to have finally updated my records and now both Sync and Maps are up to date. 😃 Thanks to everyone for the help and advice.

Me again ! As previously confirmed, I finally updated Maps a few weeks ago after numerous attempts and all is well.  I've gone onto the Ford site today and it's stating that I have yet another Maps update but this time it's for 24.2GB and so it looks like a complete Maps update rather than the tiny update a few months ago.  Has anyone else had the same ?  Cheers

Yes, lots of people. It's the F13 maps.
