just downloaded a map update and updated the car. Log file created but won’t update to ford 

have redone the stick and have attached to the car multiple times?

If your 'about Sync' screen shows F13 maps, and all is working correctly.  I wouldnt worry too much about it.

 

Can someone please tell me how long the update to F13 takes using USB (I got the 24GB files but I'm not planning any trip longer than 45 minutes anytime soon) ?

Focus 2017 (MK3.5?) , Sync 3 update 3.0.20204 to .23219 took about 12 minutes, I'm still on my original (F6.1) maps Thanks.

It takes about 2 hours.

Just put the USB stick in and LEAVE IT.

Do not remove it for any reason unless the system tells you it is finished and that you should remove it.

Just use the vehicle normally, no need to do long journeys, the F13 will take place over the next few days as you drive. You can still use the radio as normal.

Shocking in today's high speed , instant everything, that it takes 2 hrs to upload a file .

Even my Hyundai only takes 20 mins.

I did it. I assume it would have taken 1 hour if I had not taken the stick off, after 5 minutes of the system saying nothing (as opposed to "Update going on" or whatever it had been displaying until then).

1st step was about 35 minutes, then reboot, still saying the update is going on... Then I had to stop. When I got back in the car, it was saying nothing. So after 5 minutes, I removed the USB (yeah... stupid me) and put it back in again. Then I got stuck with the dreaded "PKG_ERR03" error which is described somewhere as an error unpacking files. There was no reason files would be corrupt.

I changed the autoinstall file to only have the last file running (making the xml report), that worked OK but also showed my update had not been complete.

I did it all again with a bit more patience at the "no message" stage (less than 10 minutes), after which it rebooted again, 2 or 3 times. Then it said to remove the stick. This proves the files where not corrupt.

It still failed to produce the xml file (I got 2 .log files but no .xml) so I used the modified autoinstall again and uploaded the file to Ford UK. It immediately said  I have an other Map Update available for download, but that new "Map_47452_Update.zip" is only 46kb and guess what, it's only a (same) logger. Cheers.

Took around 82 minutes to finish updating.

After attempting to update the system to show I'd successfully updated to F13 Maps on numerous occasions over the past few months without success, I've just logged on and it's now suggesting I have a new 24.9GB file rather than the previous 47kb file to download.  ChatGPT suggests that this is likely to be the latest version F14 and so has anyone else had this update and did it run smoothly ?

Just tried to update my maps via ford website and still get the offer of the 47.5mb option. Unless they stagger the release of the update to various year or VIN No. I don't if yours is the F14 update or not. Try it and see what happens.

Same here. Could do that in a few weeks as it's a lot of time for little potential reward.

I finally went on a longer than normal journey and so uploaded the 24.9GB file to the car and it successfully updated to Maps F14 (took about 45 minutes). Not had chance to see what the differences are yet and it also didn't give me the file that I need to upload to the official Ford site and so I've got the faff of trying to get that (again).

I did it yesterday and today, all is OK here with F14 (also got the xml).

From Ford UK. The file was available to me since mid October, I don't know what the priorities are, I only have a 1.0 engine. 😄

Still, the xml was not updating my status on the site, it seems it was created after a 1st part of the update (too soon in the process), I had to create a new one. Now it's back to "yeah !!! there's a map update for you" but the download is a bundle to create an xml file. 😖  I'll check that again next year.

Ponch - I got mine from the Ford site, updated without a problem but didn't get the xml file and so got that using the interrogator file. I've tried on numerous occasions to upload it to the Ford site and surprise, surprise, it accepts it but then still suggests that I have another Maps update. When you click on the file, it's the same 24.9GB Map update and so the Ford system still appears to be broken. 

Try this:

-make a backup of the autoinstall.lst file on your USB (even if you've obviously done the update and you won't need it anyway).

-rename or delete your previous xml file

-open the autoinstall.lst with a text editor and replace everything with these 5 lines;

; Interrogator Log Utility (Ford Official version from 3.0.23219)

[SYNCGen3.0_ALL_PRODUCT]

-get in the car, turn the key, (engine is not needed as it only takes 2 minutes), plug the USB (you should see the "Update" message) and wait for it to say "remove USB".
