Electric handbrake drive away not working

my electric handbrake works fine but just recently I've noticed when on a slight gradient the drive away is not working, it's difficult to disengage the electric handbrake and dangerous, I've mastered holding the clutch with handbrake off but the wife refuses to drive it..any help and advise would be much appreciated..    mike

    What's the difference between those two modes?

    In automatic mode, it's activated by pressing the brake pedal.  In manual mode you have to activate it by...pressing the brake pedal? :unsure:

    I've had HSA on a few cars but never had the option to switch between manual or automatic modes on those.

    @TomsFocus No real idea as I leave it on Auto and it rarely operates (also, we have a manual handbrake)  - one day, I may test it!
    Just checking that @Michael pole is aware and it hasn't been switched on accidentally, i.e. it's the feature, not  bug or fault?
