Daytime running lights keep tripping

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have factory fitted DRL on 2010 S-Max.  Have had not problems up to now, but i noticed they weren't working.  I did a bit of googling thinking it might be the fuse, and someone mentioned they don't have a fuse and disconnecting the battery would reset them.  This does work, for about 5 seconds, then they go off again.

Also can't find any online videos about removing them (to have a look at either).  Assuming they don't go wrong very often.

Any one had this experience or know how to fix it?

Thanks.

They are not a serviceable item. You have to replace the whole light assembly.

I'm interested to know the cost of such an item, compared to a good old fashioned sidelight bulb......

£1200.00 each for the genuine Ford part. Or from Autodoc a copy part is only £800.00

Do the sidelights still work?

For that much I'll have to go without DRL's!

Just curious @lferry what it is about my post you find confusing ?

Do you perhaps know where the OP can get some cheap replacements, which would be of help ?

@unofix sorry, not confused just baffled at the cost of the lights!...

I am not surprised at the price - I recently made a post suggesting that a perfectly usable vehicle could be written off because of the price of replacing a complex LED light unit was more than the value of the car........

Stick to bulbs - they give better lighting anyway!

Just deactivate DRLs then, you don't need them on a 2010, you will pass MOT then
