driving mode

Featured Replies

Hi Im a newbie and just joined this group. (Ive introduced myself in the introduction section).  I have a 2023 1.0 Focus St Line. There are 3 driving modes. Eco, Normal and Sport. The default setting is 'normal'. Because I always drive in Eco mode, quite often it takes 'ages' before I can change it from turning on the ignition. I don't want to wait until I start driving. Is there any way I can set it so that Eco mode is the default setting, or do I just have to change it every time I switch the engine on. Cheers.

Hi Lez, welcome.

Afaik ,"no". What's the problem with waiting a few secs - if you were in that much of a hurry you wouldn't be using eco mode in the first place!😀

Joking apart, if you have keyless start you could activate the ignition by pressing the button without pressing the clutch, change mode, then depress the clutch and start. I've tried it experimentally  to start up in Sport mode - tbh I don't think it's any quicker but it fills a few seconds!

Opinions on this vary, but I've usually found the default Normal mode fine in the cars I've had with selectable modes - certainly not found Eco to do anything you can't achieve yourself by normal careful driving.

To add to what Roger said, I now drive my Focus exclusively in Sport Mode  (when I don't forget to switch it on) and my Fuel consumption is no different to when I drove in Normal Mode and as an added bonus I don't need to switch Stop/Start off either.

You may also find that the Auto Climate Control is not as good in Eco Mode either if your car has that.

Thanks for the replies. I suppose I can combine the answers. @Eric Bloodaxe Wait for a few extra seconds, then @Tizer put it in Sports mode!! Cheers.
