Always a worry when they have to say "genuine" but all you can do is try it?

Edit: you'll need Forscan of course?

Thank you, I guess I’ll just have to see when it arrives hopefully the problem isn’t serious the car drives fine still

Yes that is the one for use with an iPhone.

At the moment you can still buy the iOS version of FORScan, but don't know for how much longer 🤔

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

No, that's all you need to pay and you can update it and transfer it to a new phone in the future as well without paying any more.

Also have a read here at the instructions, they look a bit daunting but make sense when you are connected up. https://forscan.org/documentation_iOS.html

You are a ledgend for that thank you, I just read the article you sent and there is a demo mode which I turned on and used it which made everything a bit more clear 👍 the wife used the car this afternoon now the yellow engine light has gone out now very strange

Most Faults that cause a Fault Light to Illuminate will clear the Light themselves if the next, or a given number of Driving Cycles do not show the same Fault again.

Sometimes the copious amount of Self Monitoring that goes on in the background will cause a Fault Light but a lot of the Self Monitoring only occurs if a specific set of driving parameters has occurred during the drive.

When you get your Adaptor do a Scan, save it (I usually take Screenshots) the Faults, clear them then check again after either the Light comes on or even after a clear run.

The beauty of the Phone versions of FORScan is that you can keep the Adaptor in the car and if a Light illuminates you can connect up before switching off to see what the Faults were.

Edited, posted in wrong thread🙃

Lovely thank you It looks like a lovely bit of kit for the money, it looks like I can reset the adaptive stuff as well which is what was hoping for, fingers crossed it will work alright hopefully the issue wasn’t too serious if the light went off again

Hello guys thanks for all your help here is the codes which came up one is battery voltage low and another is dpf blocked, luckily that night I took it out for a good blast and the fans were running and the engine sounds a tad different which made me think it did do a regen. I would like to re learn the injectors but there is a few options with this can anyone please tell me which ones I can safely relearn please?

It’s lovely to have the oil temperature and coolant temperature on my phone thank you again everyone what a great bit of kit this is

You shouldn't Relearn Injectors or anything else unless one or more of the Fuel related components has been changed or cleaned. If something is not working properly then it needs fixed before you Relearn anything. If everything is working properly then the car will run worse after a forced Relearn.

If you are worried about your DPF then you should be able to bring up PID's for the Implied Soot Load and possibly when the last Regeneration was done. What you can see varies from car to car.

Thank you I have put some Forté diesel treatment in for 2 tankfuls now and now only run bp ultimate so this wouldn’t really count as cleaning? Everything is running sweet now the engine was a bit tappy but have taken it on a few hard runs now, changed the oil twice in 4K miles and seems to have made a big difference

IMHO, the best way to check DPF is to find DPF pressure differential (Max 10mBar idle and absolute max about 80 at 3000) and soot loading (open and closed loop less than 100%) plus regeneration distance (as above)  - there may be multiple values, suggest keeping records

If values outside those, and you get fault codes, need to find out WHY it isn't regenerating (DPF usually a victim, not a cause!)

Thank you I have been out tonight and ticked all of the dpf box’s on the FORScan to show the data, haven’t started the car yet as cleaned the Maf sensor with maf cleaner and want to make sure it drys off, only one thing I can see without the engine running is the dpf soot load is at 70 percent currently, will the maf sensor be ok after a clean or will I need to relearn it or anything?

You don't need to relearn the MAF.

@Shearers I think that car doesn't have a Differential Pressure, just a Single Pressure.

I'm out tonight so will have a look at the Data tomorrow.

Just cleaning shouldn't affect anything (again, don't go round resetting things unless new components or some serious work requiring that is done)
Soot load sounds fine and between regens so perhaps there isn't a problem (however still suggest keeping a record and checking from time to time?)

@Tizer has replied whilst I was writing this and I think a single pressure is effectively differential between front of DPF and atmospheric so still an indication?

Thank you very much both of you have just been for quite a hard drive with the FORScan plugged in, Is there any way to have it on the Apple play screen on the car while the phone is plugged in? One thing noticed is after quite a hard run up a steep hill the engine oil temperature went to about 110 degrees Is this ok? I won’t go fiddling with any settings thanks for warning me not to, have got some Forté adblue additive to put into the tank which stop crystals forming apparently hope that will help

There is no official way, there may be unofficial ways that some people have managed.

The car would have been working hard at that point, if it went back down during normal cruising then I would not worry about it.

On the additive (or Snake Oil, depending on our point of view) issue... from the You Tube videos I have seen (we don't have AdBlue) the system is liable to failure (crystallisation being the main one that may be avoidable) the bits are very expensive and complex to diagnose so I would definitely use an additive in that if we had it.
I also use Archoil or similar for the fuel as a sort of insurance policy for multiple components (including DPF etc) aiming to keep it running long term by hopefully getting premium fuel with detergent, lubricant and cetane improver at half the price differential for garage versions.

As ever, you pays yer money, etc!
